How our data works
Every number on SocialCount comes from a platform's official API. We don't scrape, simulate or "estimate" counts between updates. If a platform only publishes data every few minutes, you'll see the latest verified value and exactly when it was checked.
Our servers fetch each creator on a schedule that respects the platform's limits, cache the result and push it to every viewer at once over a live connection. A thousand people watching the same counter cost the platform one request, not a thousand.
Growth figures (today, this week, this month) and history charts are calculated only from observations we've recorded. When we started tracking a creator recently, we say so rather than guessing what happened before.
Per-platform notes
YouTube
YouTube's public API rounds subscriber counts to three significant figures. View and video counts are exact.
Instagram
Instagram data comes from the official Graph API (Business Discovery) and covers Business and Creator accounts only.
TikTok
TikTok statistics come from the official Research API, which refreshes periodically rather than in real time.
Facebook
Facebook data covers public Pages via the official Graph API.
X
X API rate limits are strict, so follower counts refresh every few minutes.
Twitch
Twitch follower totals come from the official Helix API.
